Using State-of-the-Art Diagnostics and
Therapies to Improve Quality of Life
A recent
study conducted by Research America found that more than half of Americans
have suffered chronic or recurrent pain in the past year.
Fortunately, a team of highly qualified professionals are available to
alleviate the problem in this community. Carolina Pain Consultants (CPC),
founded in the mid-1980s, provide comprehensive pain management and is the
largest group of pain specialists in the region.
CPC multi-disciplinary team is comprised of physicians, nurse practitioners and
registered nurses who have specialized training in pain medicine. Patients
are referred to CPC by neurosurgeons, oncologists, orthopedic surgeons,
internists, and family physicians.
CPC has
grown tremendously in the recent years. “We want to be the most
comprehensive center in the area, treating a wide variety of patients,” said
Dr. Kimberly Greenwald. “We are seeing 65 to 75
patients a day, offering the newest treatment options, including diagnostic
procedures such as discography, nerve root blocks, and facet injections, and
therapeutic procedures such as epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency
neurotomies, sympathetic blocks, spinal cord stimulators, and spinal
infusion pumps.”
CPC has
clinics located at Rex Healthcare and Duke Health Raleigh Hospital. “Our two
locations work together with referring physicians to provide
state-of-the-art pain management services. It is a true partnership,” said
Dr. Greenwald.
“Pain
management is the wave of the future. Physicians want to be able to refer
patients to professionals who are experts in new technologies and treatment
options. We try to find solutions that are less invasive,” states Kim
LoBue, NP-C for CPC.
